Frothing Characteristics

Florrea 2216 collector has little or no frothing properties. It exhibit very little frothing.  And require the use of a     conventional frothers. When high dosages of dithiophosphates is required, froth development   will be improved by     using the frother Florrea F515


1.This flotation reagent is more selective against iron sulfides in alkaline circuit than the corresponding xanthates., It  is generally more selective than xanthates in preventing the flotation of iron sulfides

2.Flotation collector Florrea 2216 is a selective collector towards iron sulphides in an alkaline circuit, usually at slightly lower pH than for xanthates.

3.It does not float lead sulphide. It is poor collector for galena, making them the ideal choice for selective flotation of Cu from Pb.

Collecting Powder

Among all Florrea 2200 series flotation collectors, Florrea 2216 combines good collecting power with good selectivity against iron sulfides.

Principal Usage

1.Like xanthate, this collector is generally used in the flotation of sulphide ores or sulphidized oxide minerals.

2.The main application of this reagent is in the flotation of copper sulphides in the presence of pyrite.

3.It is also an effective collector for gold, silver and sphalerite.

In the flotation of noble metals the shorter chained dithiophosphate compounds, Florrea 2216   are preferred.

1.In many cases a scavenger collector, e.g. small amounts of xanthate, is used.

2.Other applications of   Florrea 2216 are the flotation of metallic copper in a low lime circuit

3.Flotation of copper oxides and copper sulphides in a mixed oxide –sulphide ore.

4.Flotation collector Florrea 2216 is widely used in Cu flotation and for increasing by-product Au recovery.

5.One additional application for Florrea 2216 is the use in the precipitation of cadmium from hot concentrated  phosphoric acid solutions

Condition Time and Adding Point

Flotation collector Florrea 2216 requires only short conditioning time and is therefore useful for staged addition.

Recommended blending with other reagents

Experience has shown that a mixture below is often better than either of the collectors alone.

1.a mixture of alkyldithiophoshate and a xanthate

For many ores, it is used as the principal collector in conjunction with a xanthate as a secondary or scavenger collector.

In combination with xanthates, Florrea 2216 can provide remarkable advantages in grade and recovery of the concentrates.

2.a mixture of two dithiophosphates

For the flotation of free gold the short chained dithiophosphates like Florrea 2216, 2212 or 2211 may be used along or in combination with each other . Thus creates the new formulation of Florrea 2218 collector.

3.a mixture of dithiophosphate with thionocarbamate 4. a mixture of dithiophosphate with NaMBT


Reagents Preparation

Flotation collector Florrea 2216   can be added


2.preferably diluted with clear water to 5-20% solutions. It is good practice to stir before use.


The dosage of Flotation collector Florrea 2216 is usually considerably less than for other sulphide collectors. It varies with the type of ore, usually falling in the range of 10 to 50 grams per metric ton ore.



1.Experience has shown that Flotation collector Florrea 2216   is effective in the pH range of 4 to 12.

2.Because of its selectivity towards pyrite, Flotation collector Florrea 2216 can be used at slightly lower pH than xanthates

3.An advantage of Florrea 2216 in comparison to xanthates is its application in acid pH ranges. Its stability is much higher, particularly in the region of pH 4.
